Requirements
-For appointment to the position;
- i. Hold a law degree from a recognized university or be an advocate of the High Court of Kenya or possess an equivalent qualification in a common law jurisdiction.
- ii. Have at least ten (10) years’ experience as a Superior Court Judge or professionally qualified Magistrate; or
- iii. Have at least ten (10) years’ experience as a distinguished academic or legal practitioner or such experience in other relevant legal field; or
- iv. Have held the qualifications specified in paragraphs (ii) and (iii) above for a period amounting, in aggregate, to ten (10) years: (Note experience may have been gained in Kenya or in any other country with a Common Law jurisdiction)
- v. Have a high moral character, integrity and impartiality (meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution on Leadership and Integrity).
- In addition, the applicants must demonstrate a high degree of professional competence, communication skills, fairness, good temperament, good judgment in both legal and life experiences and commitment to public and community service.

Duties and Responsibilities
-The chairperson shall discharge the following duties: -
- a) Presiding over all proceedings where he
-she is present in person;
- b) Constituting such panels or panels of the Tribunal as may be necessary for the fair and expeditious disposal of the business of the Tribunal;
- c) Assigning the business of the Tribunal to the members;
- d) Carrying out inquiries into the disputes lodged including summoning witnesses, taking evidence and calling for production of records and other documents;
- e) Recording proceedings in a clear and accurate manner;
- f) Writing and pronouncing awards, judgments, orders, rulings and decrees issued by the Tribunal.
- g) Making rules of the tribunal with respect to the filing, hearing and disposal of disputes and other matters before the Tribunal;
- h) Providing requisite leadership to ensure the Tribunal attains a high level of competitiveness and ethical standards;
- i) Driving the Tribunals vision and mission through the implementation of its Programmes and plans;
- j) Undertaking any other duty assigned for the benefit of the Tribunal

- (f) Copies of academic and professional certificates, testimonials and academic transcripts;
- (g) Applicant’s one (1) recent coloured passport size photographs
- (h) Shortlisted candidates shall be required to produce originals of their National Identity Card, academic and professional certificates and transcripts during interviews
- Successful candidates will be required to submit valid copies of clearance certificates from the following bodies on Appointment: -
- • Kenya Revenue Authority
- • Higher Education Loans Board
- • Directorate of Criminal Investigation
- • Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission
- • A recognized Credit Reference Bureau; and
- • Clearance from relevant professional body.
- Applicants MUST take note that it is a criminal offence to provide false information and documents in the job application and the same will be verified by relevant bodies.
